Classes

We offer a variety of classes, starting as young as 5 years old.

We will follow the rules from the 2017 WKA Tech Manual.

Any items with * are local option rules that vary from the 2017 WKA Tech Manual.

Points races

There will be 16 races in the points championship in 2017. WKA rules will be followed in all points races, with very few exceptions.  You do NOT have to be a WKA or a 61 Kartway Club member to race, earn points or receive awards. Drivers are allowed 2 drops.

2017 Classes: Kid Kart - Comer 51, Kid Kart LO206, Yamaha Sportsman, Yamaha Junior, Yamaha Sr. Supercan*, Jr. 1 LO206* Jr. 2 LO206 and Sr. LO206

Kid Kart - Comer

• Age: 5-8 years old. 
• Engine: Comer C51
• Fuel: 87 octane ethanol* 
• Minimum Weight: 150lbs.
• Tires: Open Compound. Size 10x4:50 or 4:60x5, max rear circumference, 33.75".
• Gear Ratio: 10/89

Yamaha Sportsman

• Age: 7-12 years old. 
• Engine: Yamaha.
• Exhaust: RLV SSX-V #7548
• Carburetor: Walbro WA 55B with WA55B manifold 
• Fuel: Sunoco 110 octane 
• Minimum Weight: 235lbs. 
• Tires: Bridgestone YLC, Hoosier R60, Vega red and MG red.  10x4.6-5 front and rear.

Yamaha Jr. Supercan

• Age: 12-15 years old. 
• Engine: Yamaha. 
• Fuel: Sunoco 110 octane 
• Minimum Weight: 310lbs. 
• Tires: Bridgestone YLC, Hoosier R60, Vega red, and MG Red.  10x4.50-5 front, 11x6.00-5 rear

Yamaha Sr. Supercan

• Age: 15 years old and older 
• Engine: Yamaha 
• Fuel: Sunoco 110 octane 
• Minimum Weight: 350lbs.
• Tires: Bridgestone: YLC,  Hoosier R60, Vega red and MG Red. 10x4.50-5 front, 11x7.10-5 rear.

Any items in bold red or a * are local option rules that vary from the original rules. These local option rules are only for the classes at 61 Kartway - if you travel to a different track they may be different.  Please know that we will enforce any tech updates. The fuel for the LO 206 classes must be 87 octane ethanol fuel from any Kwik Star Gas Stations. This is subject to change if we find that there is too much variation between fuels.

Kid Kart - LO206

• Age: 5-8 years old 
• Engine: Briggs & Stratton LO 206 Kid Kart Engine. 
• Fuel: 88 octane non ethanol fuel only* 
• Minimum Weight: 200lbs. 
• Tires: YLC 4:50x5", Max rear circumference 33.75" 
• Gear Ratio: 17/57 
• Clutch: Briggs & Stratton part # 555727 only
• Maximum wheel width: See section 252.2.2.  
• Other: (1)Kid Kart, Cadet and standard size go-karts are legal. See Section 900 for Kid Kart chassis and bodywork specifications. See Section 200 for Cadet Kart Specifications.

 Jr. 1 LO206*

• Age: 7-12 years old* 
• Engine: Stock Briggs & Stratton LO 206 with Green slide and lock cap
• Fuel: 88 octane non ethanol fuel only*  
• Minimum Weight: 265 lbs.* 
• Tires:  Bridgestone YLC,  Hoosier R60A, Vega red & MG red.   10x4.5-5 front and rear.
• Maximum wheel width: See section 252.2.2.  

Jr. 2 LO206*

• Age: 12-15 years old*
• Engine: Stock Briggs & Stratton LO206 with Yellow slide and lock cap
• Fuel: 88 octane non ethanol fuel only*  
• Minimum Weight: 310 lbs.* 
• Tires:  Bridgestone YLC,  Hoosier R60A, Vega red & MG red.  10x4.50-5 front, 11x6.00-5 rear
• Maximum wheel width: See section 252.2.2. 

Sr. LO206

• Age: 15 years old and older 
• Engine: Stock Briggs & Stratton LO 206
• Fuel: 88 octane non ethanol fuel only* 
• Minimum Weight: 390 lbs. 
• Tires: Bridgestone: YLC,  Hoosier R60A, Vega red & MG red.  10x4.50-5 front, 11x7.10-5 rear.
